Andrea Santana

Research Assistant, 2015

I am currently a senior at the University of Southern California majoring in biological anthropology. I have never ventured below the equator and am very excited to be studying tamarin monkeys in their natural habitat. My path to the biological sciences has been anything but linear, as I was previously a theatre major. However, it is my goal to elicit a comprehensive (across academic disciplines) and comparative (across species) study of animals, including the human animal, using anthropology as a jumping off point from which to combat anthropocentric and patriarchal biases in the study of our physical world. Because I am young and naive I have no problem stating that I want to be some sort of a punk rock Jane Goodall.
