Effie is currently a graduate student in Anthropology at Washington University in St Louis. Her research focuses on vocal communication, sexual signaling, and dispersal. She is fascinated by New World monkeys because of their unique place in the evolutionary history of primates, and is particularly interested in tamarins because of their unusual social and reproductive systems. She first traveled to CICRA in the summer of 2014 to conduct a pilot study on the saddleback and emperor tamarins there, and is excited to return to complete her dissertation research in 2015. When not in school or in the field, she enjoys relaxing in the sun whenever the St Louis weather permits, and is always on the lookout for a beautiful beach.
