Gene is a post-baccalaureate student at Portland State University, studying Biology and Anthropology after earning a BA in Psychology in 2010. Being a Portland, Oregon native, he has a natural love for the outdoors, and hobbies such as hiking, rock climbing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. His fascination with primates and the outdoors led him to apply to a research assistantship with Field Projects International in 2014. He hopes to be accepted to a doctoral program in primate behavior in the not-too-distant future, and build a career around the observation and conservation of primates around the world. When not outside, Gene enjoys reading, cheering on his Blazers, and listening to “Radio Lab”.
