Effie has been Associate Research Scientist with FPI since 2014, and completed her doctoral degree in Anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis in 2018. Her research focuses on how primates perceive information from both conspecifics and the environment, and how they use this information to navigate situations that are important for survival and reproduction. She has worked with FPI’s primate behavior, animal handling, and disease ecology programs and taught field courses at CICRA. Effie is also a science writer and editor: she has written for FPI’s Field Notes blog and One World Science, and works with international scientists editing and translating academic papers in preparation for peer-review.
